The Naked Truth: Is it Really All in the Green Juice?

As the saying goes, “Your body is a temple.” In order to have a happy, healthy life, we are supposed to eat clean, exercise regularly, sleep 8 hours, drink plenty of water, and generally live a balanced lifestyle. So simple, so doable! As we all know, it’s not as easy as it sounds. Not even for me, and I am in the business of health.

I do my best, and more often than not, I succeed, but I always feel like I can be doing better. I drink my green juices, do some yoga and take long bike rides…but I also love wine, chips & salsa, margaritas, and sweets. I often choose work over play. So despite my “model” behavior much of the time, I still have my vices, and I’m okay with that.

The NAKED Truth for February- Love is All You Need

a+aThe saying “Love is the answer” conjures up images of a bunch of hippies in a circle singing Kumbaya Is that really a bad thing? I have approached a difficult situation with anger, frustration and blame so many times in my life only to be met with the same energy coming right back to me. When I respond/react with love and compassion, 9 times out of 10, I see the situation diffuse,even dissolve- and relationships and situations evolve into new possibilities I hadn’t even imagined.

I have had one of the most intense experiences in the last six months, one that has changed my life forever. (more…)

Chocolate Cherry Pistachio Bon Bons

Handmade gifts go a long way (especially the edible kind), and are a much nicer gesture than a gift card, specifically for the Winter Holidays or Valentine’s Day (though I am a HUGE fan of receiving a gift card :). They are inexpensive and thoughtful and if you pick less complex recipes, will not take that much time. These chocolate cherry pistachio bon bons are quick, delicious, vegan and gluten free and paleo…viola! Oh and they’re great just as a gift to yourself as well!

Chocolate Cherry Pistachio Bon Bons

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup vegan dark chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup coconut milk, full fat
1-2/3 cup shelled pistachios, divided
1 cup dried cherries
1 inch square piece ginger, washed and roughly chopped
1/2 unsweetened flaked coconut
2 Tablespoons maple syrup
A good pinch of Himalayan salt

Makes about 30

My 6 Tips for a Happy & Healthy 2015

For me 2014 was cathartic, in both good and not-so-good ways. My business grew beyond my expectations while everything else in my life went backwards. I was so busy working and doing that I completely allowed myself to fall by the wayside. Then all of a sudden my personal life came crumbling down around me, as if the Universe was tapping on my shoulder (more like a sledgehammer to the face) and telling me to get my priorities straight. It took me a few months but I have dusted myself off and I am reinventing my life and allowing it to unfold organically, it feels awesome. Here are 6 tips and reminders to myself for 2015 that I thought I would share. I will add one per month so stay tuned!

1.  Everything Happens for a Reason  I realize that this is “cliche” but that’s because it’s true. I may not see it in the moment (but getting better at it) but I without fail, if I pay attention and zoom out to view the bigger picture, I can always find the wisdom in the challenge and see how it connects the dots to the next phase of life and teaches me about the past. When I trust in the process implicitly I feel less pain, less anxiety and more peace even amongst the pieces.
